Kansas or Missouri hunting

I know you guys are probably tired of being asked this, but...could some of my fellow hunters give me an idea of a good spot to go Whitetail hunting. I can't afford the price for an outfitter, so I need a good public hunting spot, or maybe a rancher who would let us hunt for a fee. Thanks in advance for your help. I don't mind hunting hard, just don't have a lot of $.

There is a lot of national forest in SE MO that is used for deer hunting. Ripley Co. is about one third public land, there is a state forest here too. This is fairly rough country, and no ATV's are allowed, so usage is rather heavy at access points. There is deer available. NE MO has more deer, and supposedly larger ones but not as much public land. Deer season starts in mid Nov, lasts for ten days or so. I will get the dates if you want, and the out of state license costs.

I hear for the price, MO is a great choice. They have some pretty big chunks of private land and with a few hours of computer work you can find some great spots. I did this when hitting a big public spot in Illinois a few years back and killed a pretty good buck.

Jenks is right,You can find lots of Public Land thru out Missouri,if Your Bow Hunting it is even better because You have it mostly to Yourself during that time....when it comes to Rifle/Gun Season Your better off to find Private Land!

One thing for sure is the public land buck quality has to be much better today than in years past. That is because the public land I hunt used to be covered with Missouri license plates back in the 90's & many in the 2000's. But I've not seen a single MO plate in the last 5.
