Des Plaines Fish and Wildlife sunflowers

Has anyone been by Des Plaines Fish and Wildlife lately, how did the sunflowers do with the drought? Has anyone seen any dove forecasts for 2012 in Illinois?
Thanks,
John

I was at nearby Silver Springs yesterday and the sunflowers were absolutely worthless. The first 2 days of the season average was 1 dove per hunter! Per day! I never saw one when I was there. Total waste of time.

My god it made me remember a time not too long ago when I lived in Indiana and drew an opening day public permit. The doves were like mosquitos all over the place. Picking which one to put a bead on was the only hard part. Almost everyone limited 15 within one hour. Except me, because I don't practice with a firearm. Did get my limit in 2 hours though. Those days are a distant memory. Must have been a bumper crop year for sunflowers.

I will not waste my time on any public dove hunts balance of this year. That is for sure.

I was at Marseilles the other day. Apparently, they were not able to plant at all due to staffing problems. They are allowing dove hunting on the entire site instead.
