Ohio Youth Hunting Question???
I am thinking of taking my son turkey hunting in Ohio this year and I was wondering if there is an age restriction? In Michigan you have to be at least 10 years old and he is not. Also, does he need an Ohio hunters safety certifications or would a Michigan cert. work?

He can get an apprentice license which doesn't require a hunter safety course. With 4 and 5 year old kids "hunting" deer, they keep getting younger and younger. I think you can hunt as an embryo in Ohio. I'm waiting to see that "hunting" video on "Versus" some day.

cnyguy....I agree with your statement 100%. The number of 4-6 year old kids that are checking deer around me are amazing. They're not hunting...just checking in dad's buck.
On the other end, when you go to a checking station and during the youth season there are a bunch of 18yr old kids standing around a buck with cigarettes hanging out of their mouths...swearing about the buck they killed or missed.....it's a shame. If you are 17 WHEN YOU BUY YOUR LICENSE in Ohio...you can hunt the youth season that year. So if a kid turns 18 in March, but has his license, he can hunt the youth season that fall.
It is a wonderful idea in theory, but it is not what it was intended to be.
