mn deer season
 

Well, rifle season is almost over...how did everyone do? How many deer did you see compared to normal? I didn't get to hunt as much as usual but in the time I went out I would say the amount of sign I saw was normal, sightings down a tad, but ended up with a a couple nice deer to fill the freezer...overall, it sounded like a so so season accross northern minnesota from what I have heard.

My group of 4 hunts a few miles from Isabella. The first day it was very windy and we saw only one deer. No shot. No one else was having much luck either, very little shooting, even in the far distance. The second day I got a nice 8 point in the morning. That was the last deer we saw opening weekend. There was lots of sign, but we sure didn't see much.

There is another group of about 6 guys that normally hunts nearby that wasn't up this year. That may have had something to do with it. One of my nephews and I have one more try next weekend with the muzzleloaders.

hunt NW of Virginia, opening weekend shot a spike, six point and a 10 point, son shot a fork. Party saw many does and fawns. second weekend party members saw bucks with does on two separate times and last weekend went to ND for some goose hunt. Out there watched a doe get bred in the middle of a field by a 10 point during mid-day.

We had an incredible opening day, 9 guys and we were done at 1pm. 4 bucks, 4 does. I saw probably 15 deer in the opening drive, and got a nice 10 out of the deal. I probably could have really layed em low, but was resisting because other guys had the doe tags, and I didn't see other nice bucks come through. Lots of small bucks and does, a few nice bucks pn other drives.

We need to go back into a Management zone, the Buck/Doe Ratio is out of whack, and there are a ton of deer in the area, I think 1 or 2 seasons of an extra doe tag would do the area good.
