Wooster Ohio area hunting

My friend was able to get hunting permission in the Wooster/Creston area off of Friendsville RD. From aerial maps the area looks likes farmland with broken up wood lots. Does anyone have any insight into this area as to deer population or hunting success. We have access to approx. 125 acres of agriculture fields and woods. Area looks pretty flat. We plan to make the gun opener. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. Am I correct that it is pretty flat? Not to put the whammy on myself but could you recommend a butcher or Taxidermist from the area? Sorry for all the questions but this opportunity got sprung on me quick and I am trying to prepare. Thanks again.

yes the area is pretty flat. and if you don't want to butcher the deer yourself try white feather meats, they are in creston. As for taxidermist around there try husky's they are located in lodi, not far from wooster/creston area.http://www.huskystaxidermy.com/

Anyone have any experience hunting coyotes in this area. Are they seem seldom or can you call them on a "regular" basis. Thanks

Actually I have never seen any in that area. I hunted the Wooster, well that whole county for about 15 years. However I have never hunted yotes there either. I have killed several in holmes county, the county right below that area.

Did you have any luck?

I never saw a deer. Shots and hunters all around us but nothing. A guy in my hunting party, prob 200 yards away, saw what he called "the biggest buck he has ever seen" ran in and ran out in .3 seconds only to get get about 15 shots thrown at in a nearby field. Dont know if they got him. It was a great area and we met some great people. Maybe next year. Thanks for the info ahead of time.

Not sure about you hunting land exactly. But Wayne County is a sleeper county for big bucks. I live 18 miles from Wooster.
I think in the last 8 years, I have mounted 6 Boone & Crockett buck taken in that county ! And I have seen & measured a monster typical buck taken by an old farmer who just cut the antlers off. And it scored 192 typical. The old farmer took it home & I never heard anything else about it !
