I usually don't start looking for at least another month and usually two. Still too much snow on the ground. That first day in March or April when the snow is gone then I'll be out cehcking the woods.

i dont normally start this early either but got liad off so i got some extra time on my hands , figured i might find some of them before the tree rats and field mice do .

Went looking today at lunch...have a forest preserve a couple minutes from my job. No luck.

Did see three deer one definitely looked to be an anterless buck.

i have trail cam pics of a couple bucks that have dropped both sides but one of our hunting buddies still has to fill his tag so we are staying out of there as much as possible

I found half of a decent 10 today! First time out and first find, thats lucky. It looked like it had been there for a good week or so. I could tell by how deep in the snow it was. Good luck to anybody else who enjoys this.

OhioBowhunter 02-09-2010 03:23 PM

season just ended here so we will shoot some coyotes and then get at it with the sheds

Fully77 02-13-2010 05:16 PM

Earliest find was on January 29. Both sides of a 150 inch 8 pt. That was pure luck. Nothing since. Still seeing younger bucks with both sides. Trying to stay out of the area until I know most have dropped.

Its too tough when the snow is one the ground. That first warm day that gets most of the white stuff off the ground is a great day to hit the Forest Preserves around here. My luck wasn't good last year but Im hoping to change that this year. I really like it to be that first nice sunny 40 degree day.

I got out this past weekend and on Valentines day I found a nice 2.5 year old 4 point side. Most of the bucks here in Wisconsin are still carrying both sides and this shed still had some fresh blood on the base of it. Found it in a bedding area about 50 yards off a stadning cornfield. This is my biggest shed yet.
