Northern IL Public Land?
I live in Algonquin IL and am looking for a good place to hunt around me. I have used the IL DNR site but want your opinions before I go out and scout the land. I am looking for a place that just has a check in area so I dont have to enter a drawing. Please let me know if you have any ideas, any help will be appreciated. Perhaps your opinions on the different places. I have hunted at the Kishwaukee River but thats all and have never seen a deer in there.

Just Outside Oregon Ill. Lowden Miller State Forest (4000 acres), Castle Rock State Park (300-400?) & Franklin Creek State park (200 or more-used to be archery only). All near & along Rock River & probably within 15-20 min of each other.
I've seen Deer in all of them...
I'd check Franklin Creek 1st & then Castle rock...

I hunted Lowden Miller for 4yrs in my opinion it gets over hunted quick. I hunted Castle rock for 2yrs and saw a lot more activity there. Castle Rock has some rough terrain and you can get in some good areas if yo don't mind the hike.
