Noth Dakota Limiting Out of Staters?

Can anybod tell me where i can find more information on the out of state hunting BS that those so called ND Legislators are medling with? I did not find anything on the State Dept' s website or newsletter. I understand they lost by 1 vote to limit the O/O/state waterfowl licenses to 20,000, but they did manage to raise he license fee approx. double. I don' t understand why they would limit toursim. I have not heard of many people that I have spoken to that live in ND that appreciate the latest moves by some they accuse of being in the good o' l boy club!

any thoughts?'

Spark, Good to see an Edgertonian on the board. I was born and raised there. I have a buddy who is an avid hunter/teacher in ND. We talk to each other on a weekly basis. I hunted out there for the second time last year and it was again as impressive for birds as the first trip. As far as your question goes the website is probably your best bet unless you want to call up one of the Fish and Game offices out there. Besides what you mentioned in your post they also are limiting your small game liscene ( which would include any upland hunting you wanted to do) down to 10 days and you have to select the days, whereas before it was for the entire season. Last year all my liscenses cost me 105. This year it will be closer to 200 I am contemplating if I will go again or not. It' s still a great deal but it makes you wonder if worse is yet to come.

Unfortunately it seems like the new motto for the Dakotas when revising wildlife management regulations, is " Screw the out of stater and milk him for everything he' s got" . I think they are making a big mistake in ND if they raise the cost of waterfowl hunting to $200. If bag limits go down this year to 4, like I' ve heard some suggest, there are going to be alot of poeple who just wont go and spend their money in ND.

boy o boy dont get me started. as a fellow north dakotan and a farm kid. (work on the family farm for dad) i dont understand why they want to. i know alot of money comes from out of state hunters and fishermen. as far as waterfowl i think they should open up an early season on everything ducks geese ect because we are having problems with them pickin the seeds out of the ground and eating the barley and wheat when it starts to grow. also when we get ready to combine and swath it they walk on the windrows and shell out the grain.[:@] as far as i was concerend they should let more in. and if they lower the limit they got one mad hunter on there hands. yes i love waterfowl hunting but theres gettin to be too many of them and if they dont do somthin other than keep sayin that we need more and savin them we are going to be over run by em. its just some hunters that live in big citys that make all the camotion i think because us farmers let some hunters on our land. the city hunters think that by lettin outa staters in they aint going to have anywere to hunt. well get out and ask a land owner become friends with them and you got a life time hunting spot as far as i am concerned. i got lots of people that are my buddys that i let hunt because i like them and they respect me. but as far as that goes i got enough people that hunt my land but there are plunty of places to hunt. all i gota say is its stupid. we need to reduce the waterfowl population this coming from a hunter and from a farmer(my dad always says that we got to many of them)[:@]

check out fishingbuddy.com. You should find some interesting reading on the forums. This is a troubled issue and one that won' t be resolved anytime soon. The guides are leasing up land to make a profit, " some" farmers are jumping in on it to make money, the State... County...City are looking for their share with the non-residents shelling out the cash.

The resident hunters are feeling the pinch. Land is harder to access without digging out the wallet. They feel the Guides, farmers. landowners, County and State is out of control with their greed and has forgotten about them. The residents pay state, county and city taxes year round and want quality hunting for themselves and future generations.

Farmers are seeing land values and cash rent going up due to non-residents buying up land for hunting. They are now feeling the pinch especially in in the Southern part of the start in pheasant country.

Everyone is pointing fingers on who is to blame and it is getting ugly.
I' ve just touched on the subject but it is not so simple as some believe and not all of us North Dakotans are greedy and we do go out of our way to help a fellow hunter out....resident or non-resident... no cash involved!!
