Well that sucks! I was planning on heading up there next year, but for that price, I don't know if I can swing it. A $550 tag plus paying an outiftter will make it $3000 minimum.

I hadn't paid much attention to other things but they are also raising the price of a preference point from $10 to $50. So, if you buy your 2 points to get a tag and then your tag it will cost $650 for everything!

More deer for me! Most out-of-state hunters that hunt around me are jerks. They don't follow rules, and they ignore no trespassing signs. I don't want to generalize all non-resident hunters, but can't some learn some class!

I was born and raised in Iowa and all my family still lives in Iowa.Dumb enough to fall in love with a woman from Virginia and move there. Can't afford to pay the non-resident fee either. Guess I will just have to pay my 18 bucks here in Virginia where I get a tag good for 3 bucks, 3 does, 3 turkeys and one bear.

Does anyone know if non-resident students get their tags at resident price? I've been looking at grad schools in Iowa but this might put an end to that.

Well I love hunting in Iowa but they can kiss my a#$. Everytime I've been there it has been FANTASTIC hunting. A Non Res point is $50 now, I went to buy one tonight as this is the last day to purchase one and it jumped form $10. You need 2 points to get drawn for an Archery Licence in Zone 4 so you can add another 100 bucks to the crazy $550 licence. Guess what, I'll be hunting Ohio. Over the counter and some good bucks there too.

Nick as far as making a statment about most out of state unters are Jerks! Well I have a problem with that, All I hear is from the locals is how they kill two or three bucks a year with landowner permits and bending the rules a little. Why can the locals kill like that and you can call the out of staters Jerks. Why did the Governor get involved in the cost of non resident hunting fees. What does DNR do??

My 4 Iowa pref points and money will stay in Illinois this year. Heck I get 2 buck tags here for $26/each. I wish all states would just price everything the same for everyone. It's just out of control.

Iowa is only hurting their own. My buddy runs a small operation and has numerous people cancelling their hunts. They picked a bad time to up license fees with the economy and all. When my group goes out to Iowa, we dump alot of money into the local economy. Walmart, food joints, hotels, carwash, grocery stores, sportshops, fuel. Whats funny is they raised the licenses midstream, I paid less the first week of May, than my buddy paid the last week they were onsale. This could be our last year, unless I become a resident for 30 consecutive days before Nov.1 ! I have a problem with Nicks comments also, but I no longer entertain that kind of b.s. There are jackasses everywhere Nick. In my state and yours.
