the landowner fights the DNR for the large black bear

The land owner is fighting the DNR over the Large Black Bear that was hit by the combine in Dunn county WI. Their reason is they say the Bear was still alive when hit by the combine. When the bear was dressed out it was still steaming some four hours after it was hit. The bear was shot a day and a half earlier according to the ND hunter who shot it. The land owner who bought the bear from a warden says that they had a contract with the DNR when they bought the bear for $75.00 and they didn't know the bear was shot at that time. The land owner says that the reason the DNR wants the bear is because of it's huge size.

This one will go to court!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now we're talkin!! Why does the DNR need the bear anyway? The dumb-bell from Fargo admitted that he shot it, so as for evidence they don't need it. I think the farmer is right by saying the DNR is more interested in the bear because of it's size.Sue the dumb Warden and the DNR for breach of contract!
The Bear was tagged and sold to the farmer. That sounds like a contract to me.

I'm with the farmer too. If the bear was sold to him, he should get to keep it, no questions asked. If the DNR wanted the bear that bad, they should have told the farmer from the beginning that they wanted it.

If a contract was signed, how can they go back on the offer? I hope the farmer wins this case!

The DNR wouldn't know what to do with the bear anyway. They can't even count how many bears are in wisconsin right now.

Yep, by excepting the farmers money the DNR entered into a legally binding contract.

Never underestimate the under handed dealings of the DNR. If they want that bear, believe me... they will confiscate it if they have to. As for what they do with them, they like to have a full body mount and then decorate their offices. Ever see the one in the Park Falls office? That thing is huge.

I am sure they will use the fact that since it was shot prior to the farmer's combine hitting it, that they will have to have the animal. Once they get their hands on it, believe me.. that farmer will never see it again.

A trophy like that is worth big money. And the DNR just over looked that when they signed the contract with the farmer. It was a moment of stupidity on the DNR's part. But of course we all know they have lots of moments.
