2nd rut in ohio?
 

anybody know when usually the 2nd rut hits? im guessing not gonna be as stong as in november. ill be hunt next week during shotgun, would there be activity besides deer running from all the gunshots? this is my first time really hunting with shotgun and the late season. i usually tag out or dont get a chance at the gun season cause of my schedule. for me its been a not so good year, id seen plenty of deer in october but none lately.

It's on. Saw a big 10 chasing a doe around today. He chased of two small subordinates and would not leave her side.

I seen a nice 8 pointer scent checking a woods yesterday evening. Looks to be just in time for gun season!

This is certainly not the second rut. There are still does being bred,as there are every year at this time. The "second rut" will usually occur in mid Dec. when a few does and doe fawns come in heat.
Seeing rutting action in mid Dec. is really a matter of luck. You have to be in the vicinity of a hot doe. It’s not very often you’ll see bucks out looking for does.

definitely not the second rut yet they are finishing up the first rut in my area usually mid December for the second

That is true the second rut will be around the 18th through 25th
