snakes in wisconsin
I went hunting tonight with my brother and he almost stepped on a snake. we were trying to figure out what kind it was. It was a little over 24 inches and was about as big around as a golf ball. When he was disterbed he flattened his head out like a cobra wouldand would hiss at us. My bro about screamed when he almost stepped on it, so I took the privlige of finding this snake and chased him across a small grass field with it.:DWell anyways was just wondering if any one might know what kind it was. thanks..

What was the color patterns on it, sounds to me liek a corn snake, most snakes have the ability to flatten their heads.

RE: snakes in wisconsin
Sounds like a hog-nosed snake. They have a color pattern similar to a rattler and will flatten their head and hiss, if further provoked they will turn belly up and ooze out some slime that stinks like rotting flesh. Non-poisonous. I remember finding a few of them in wood piles and stuff as a kid.
