Neb. DIY Archery Mule Deer

Will be in Col. for the last ten days of archery elk season and thought about stopping in Neb. for maybe 5 days for Mule Deer. I have never hunted Neb and from what I am reading the Northwest section is the best area? Can a person bivy into some areas for a couple of days is it that vast? Would the MD still be in bachlor groups the first of October?Do the public hunting areas get alot of pressure during archery. Again just looking for some general information to help make my decision.

Look at Fort Robinson outside of Crawford. I don't know what the status of the MD population is. I've turkey hunted there in the past and rarely see another hunter and would guess that crowds won't be a problem in bow season.

Bucks should be in bachelor groups yet. They won't start rutting until the end of November.

Some guys I know go turkey hunting at Fort Robinson every year. Sounds like there is plenty of wildlife and room for everybody.

I think you would see some of the bucks still in bachelor groups in early october, As for finding ground to hunt on, I don't really know of much public land in central but for surely up around chadron there is a lot of public ground to hunt on.
