Blood Vessels
Hey guys,
I have a random request for the hunters in the Chicago area - I am a teacher as well as a doctor and am trying to teach kids about blood vessels. I have been looking for a source of arteries and tried local butcher shops as well as dissection kit suppliers but with no luck. I'm about to start using rat models from my lab but it wouldn't be the bes in terms of caliber size. Basically I am asking if any of you hunters out there would be willing to give me the blood vessels from your kill assuming you don't use them for something else. I would be willing to pay for the shipping costs and extra for your help. This would be a great way for students to learn about the anatomy and pathology of blood vessels as well as think about how they could design their own vascular devices. If you think you could help out please e-mail me at [email protected] Thanks! K.H |
RE: Blood Vessels
I'm not from the Chicago area so I won't be of much help. Quick question though, Would there be any "BIO-Hazzard issues" trying to ship animal parts? I'm betting there is. Might want to check with UPS, FED EX, USPS. Just a thought.

RE: Blood Vessels
I think you may be right and I will find this information out, otherwise if someone lived close enough to the Chicago area I could also just drive out and meet them and get the items in person.

RE: Blood Vessels
KSH,
Which flood vessels are you referring to? Anything in the gut pile I will be more than happy to pull out for you. Ive saved heart, lungs, livers and such before for class projects for some local High schools. Post on here what you are looking for. I have no problem saving anything that I am not using. I can't gaurentee I'll shoot anything this year, but if I do and I can save it, I will no problem. Sometimes my shots destroy a lot of the insidesor it's too dark outsideto pull certain things out, but if the opportunity is there, I'll do it. Im located in Lincoln Park or Deerfield, FYI. |
RE: Blood Vessels
Any artery would work well for me, it doesn't necessarily have to associated with an organ but thats usually the easiest way to identify them. With respect to the gut and stomach and such they tend to be harder to find, but I don't care what you give me, I'll take anything you got. They don't even have to be long segments either, anything longer than 3-4 inches would be fine by me, and I can even dissect out things myself, hell I'd even love to go hunting sometime, haha.
Thanks for your help everyone K |
