Andrew,

What part of Ohio are you in.

A friend of mine who is a pretty good morel hunter went out yesterday in Richland county, Illinois and only found one.

We have a lot of standing water and pretty wet here in Wisconsin. Kinda cold at night still. Supposed to get some good storms for the next few days then warm up next week. I hope the skeeters aren't as bad as they were last year, I couldn't hang for a a while there!

I usually find them around old dead elm trees, especially on the hills overlooking creek bottoms.

I just heard that they have started finding them up around Robinson, Illinois, which is 30 miles north of where he lives. So, it should be prime time in richland county by the time i get over there this weekend.

Lanse,

I just spoke with my uncle tonight and he found 36 black one today in Hardinville. You should be neck deep in them when you get there.

I dont eat mushrooms, but I know a place in Southeastern Ohio that every year produces more than a guy could pick in an afternoon. I wonder what the market for them are?
