Hello Everybody!

I am just joining the forum today. I Hunt north NE of moose lake mn. I have been Rifle hunting for white tail for a few years now. Zero Kills but I am The Best at finding anything 2years old or younger[:@].
i have picked up archery about a month ago, i am absolutely in love with it! I most definately plan on doing the bow hunt this year. Does anybody know if the use of a ground blind during archery season is legal?(mn of course)

Also it seems that the deer were just starting to rut in the final week of rifle season last year, then hit fill rut about 1-1\2 weeks after the season ended. did anybody else notice the ''later rut''?

I'm not sure. I just looked on the DNR website and it said something about 7/18/08 lottery deadline.

I've never elk hunted in Minnesota, it would just seem wierd to me I guess. I haven't hunted moose in Minnesota but my dad did 1987. He shot a big bull in the BWCA, they canoed and portaged in 8 miles I think it was. The Canada Moose scored 172" with a 61" spread I believe. It was the Minnesota Archery State Record up till 2000, its now #2.

Thats a great moose, our family has a cabin just on the edge of the BWCA and the zone I apply for is about ten miles from the cabin boat the first 6 and paddle the last four my father in law got one back in the early 80s when before the once in a liftime thing and then gota second just recently. I think with all of his buddies they have got 6 up there and now its me a my friends turn.

Well I have put in for a few years now with no luck for a moose license and I had to other groups of friends put in this year and they both got drawn as well as a friend of my father in law so it looks like our cabin and maybe freezers will be full.

Anyone know when the results come out on the bear tags.

Hey y'all. Figured I should drop in and say hi, though it may be a little premature at the moment. I live in WY right now, but my wife and I are gearing up for a move to her family's farm in the next 3-4 weeks, assuming the rest of everything comes together with a job.
See, I figure I should say hi, though, because I've never turkey hunted before, and there seems to be an abbundance of turkeys onthe farm, so somebody is going to have to come show me how it's done this fall. The farm is about 20 miles south of St.Cloud. I have no clue how you go about shooting one of these birds. I originally thought it was simply a matter of going and sitting down and waiting for one to walk in front of you. Turns out there's more to it than that.

I'm not far from you either.I go to college at st. cloud state university. There is a lot of turkeys around that area, and a boat load of pheasants too.

For those that were interested in possibly showing a newbie a thing or two about turkey hunting, I'll be in the Becker/Clear Lake area, about halfway between the two. Moving this weekend, in fact.

Hello all!
I just graduated pharmacy school and moved to Eden Prairie from the Sioux Falls, SD area. I'm looking to get into Mn deer hunting this season. Anyway, being new to the state, I was wondering if anybody knew of a good rifle range around the metro area? Thanks,

Matt

Years ago my dad use to buy all of our archery stuff in Maple Lake. I can't remember the name of the place though. I don't think its owned by the same folks anymore. We got to know them well, they were good people.

Hinckley, lots of bear around there. Doing any bear hunting up there? Plenty of oak trees around there and bear love acorns!

Shoot me a PM sometime and maybe we'll go and shoot. If it's earlier in the year, I might have a place to go. Otherwise, here's a list from the DNR page. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/shooting_ranges/list_ranges.html

I imagine the place in Maple Lake was called H&H sport Shop on hwy 55? It's the only place I can think of that may have done any kind of outfitting. Although now they just have a gun shop and have eliminated archery. Thats where I register all my deer. Nice place.

You're thinking of H&H Sport Shop. It's changed hands a few times, not much of an archery place anymore. I heard there's quite a nice shop in Lithfield now.

You're right about the bear, I've never hunted them, but am seriously considering it, we've got atleast 3 different ones on the trail camdestroying our feeders.
