Northern Minnesota Bear Hunting

Anyone have any comments or advice (good or bad)on bear hunting in the Ely area. BMU 25 & 31, not in the BWCA. Have never been there before. Would be doingarchery-recurve. Thanks

Never hunted there, but it's a beautiful area. We have a cabin 30 south of International Falls. Whitetail hunting is great but have never hunted bear.

Self hunt or going through a outfitter? Pretty tough to hunt bear in northern MN with out baiting.

That's pretty close to where I worked a couple of summers ago...Blackduck. Very cool area there!

can be a little hard to get with a good outfitter. You should get one lined up as soon as you can, spots fill up quick. It can be a little un-nerving walking in the woods before sun-up with a pail full of fishheads and dougnuts. It is worth it, alot of fun, long days in the stand. took a nice bear last year, the first day, spent the rest of the trip fishin the walts on moose lake.
