Tar Hollow State Forest

My bro and I are coming out for an archery deer hunt mid october! I was curious if anybody would want to give up any info on Tar Hollow or Zaleski or even Hocking State forests. Really looking for a spot to land any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hocking is dangerous. Steep cliffs and drops. More than one person has been carried out of there. Best to call those areas and get some info.

All three are very large areas. Tar Hollow is especially steep in terrain. I would not hunt any of those areas without a partner, as you will probably lose any cell phone reception. Your absolute best bet is to pick one, get a state forest map, a topo map, and some aerial photos. Using those, you can sort out some promising areas. I really hope you can scout a day or two before hunting, as that will help immensely.

Yea, alot of the state forests have steep drops, caves and canyons. Be carefull when walking around after dark and dont get lost. Take a light, its a must.

I hunted Hocking last year. I didn't think it was that great and a lot of hunters. You might try Wayne National Forest. The access point we used was just east of Nelsonville. Nice country. There were some old strip mines any the deer seemed to be around them.
