Update::Illinois turkeys....Success!!
I'm scheduled to hunt the 5th season in brown county and was just curisous how the birds are working right now? It cant be any worse than here in MO

LOTS OF GOBBLING.... ALL DAY LONG.SLOW WORKIN. TOOK 23 HOURS HUNTIN THIS WEEKEND TO KILL TOM. SHOT AT 12:38 PM. CAME IN QUIET AS MOUSE. FOUND HEN NESTS. THEY'RE SITTIN. SHOULDBE GOOD. I'M HUNTIN PERE MARQUETE THIS WEEK.

Just opposite for me. Will gobble on the roost but go quiet on the ground. Hens are nested so the gobblers are searching. Shot mine last day of 4th season North zone. Snuck in.

Thanks for the help guys! ihunt you were right! they were gobbling all day long but worked very slow. Many of the toms didnt move much all day, just lounged in the shade with an occasional hen. I killed mine at 620am on the third day. 19lbs, 10.25" beard.
I was hunting on my friends farm located at the point where pike, brown, and adams counties meet. My god the number of deer there and their lack of fear for humans is amazing!!! I am jealous of all you guys who get to bowhunt there. ![]() |

CONGRATS 178. STREP THROAT COST ME A CHANCE OF GOING 3 FOR 3 IN ILLINOIS THIS SPRING. GOT TO COUNTY I WAS HUNTING. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE. DOC SAID I WOULD LIVE. I SAT IN A HOTEL CROSS EYED DIZZY FOR 2 DAYS WITH A THROAT SO SORE I COULDN'T EAT. 2 OUT OF 3 ON PUBLIC GROUND ISN'T BAD I GUESS.
