Michigan Hunter..... Question?

Can you leave a tree stand up during season on state land or do you have to take it down every night?

RE: Michigan Hunter..... Question?

Yes ... you can put your treestand up Sept, 1st and leave it there until Jan, 1st providing you have it cable locked and your name , divers license No. , street address and telephone No.is on it.
It must clearly mark so that the DNR can read it from the ground , this is stated in your rules and regulations giude book and its good for public and state land.
I used a bright florensent yellow paint marker on both of my stands and I wrote on the bottom face of the platfrorm so they can see it even when it gets dark.

The catch is someone else can use your stand if they get there first.
The DNR put that into effect a few years back,It's kinda Bold and Blazen but the can do it.

RE: Michigan Hunter..... Question?

IMO get a climber for public land. I have had stands stolen from 3 different counties on public land and even 1 from private, all chained and locked. It's always a gamble on public land leaving anything in the woods. Bolt cutters take away the phrase "if it aint bolted down they will take it".

RE: Michigan Hunter..... Question?

If you're gonna leave your stand, take your climbing sticks back home with you.

People who are gonna steal your stand or pirate it ain't usually amibtious enough to bring their own.
