412 lb buck in Nebraska?

I received an email today about this buck that was supposedly shot on an Indian reservation in Nebraska. It is said to be 412 lb.......didn't say if field dressed weight or live weight estimate. Does anyone know about this, or is just another internet hoax?

he looks pretty big i am guessing that would be live weight i have never heard of one that big but when i was a kid my dad hit a 9 pointer with acar here in east central iowa that dressed out with the head cut off buried a 250 pound meat scale so i am sure it is possible

I know the guy on the right's head and hand look gigantic and disproportional.....Looks like a photoshop...

However, if not, congrats to the guy and what a gigantic deer.

I don't know. Both of those guys heads look the same size as each other. The guy on the right is holding the deer bythebrowtine, so his hand looks funny, but not huge. And if the deer was photoshoped, they did a hell of a job blowing up the deer and notthe bow.

Just because we haven't seen a deer that big before doesn't mean it isn't possible.

I remember seeing that picture last year. Looks believable to me.. a 420lb deer (on the hoof)can happen. And the deer deffinately looks plenty heavy.

The guy on the right looks really funny... It makes em laugh. Why photoshop a picture with such a beautiful animal in it. Nice deer for anyone, except the fake guys face.

Welcome to last year.

This picture was on here last year, but I would definitely say it is possible for a deer to get that big....on one condition....Think what happens to a bull (cow) or dog when it gets castrated (They usually gain weight). It works the exact same way in most mammals, therefore I would say its just as possible in whitetails.

I think the heaviest deer killed by a hunter on record was estimated at just over 500 lbs live wieght. If I remember correctly it was killed in like the 20's or 30's. I'll try to find where I got this info to make sure I'm right on this.

Here's where I saw it, I think I was wrong about the date, but oh well. est. live wieght of 511 lbs. I think it was just a funny looking cow.

that pic doesnt need to be photoshopped, look at how far behind the deer those guys are! of course it will look huge!...plus looks maybe gut shot which adds some 'bloat' factor.

Thats the second most doctored pic I've ever seen.... The only worse ones I've seen are in hunting and fishing books.

This has been around for a few years and has been deemed a bunch of poop. It is a horrible photo shop job. I wish they would have done a better job of it and keep us all wowed.EJ

Looks like a photo shop job. To really get people to believe that whoever shot the deer should post a few more pictures of it somewhere.

RE: 412 lb buck in Nebraska?

I dont know if this is real or not, but a deer that size is certainly possible.
There have been two bucks shot in minnesota that had est. live weight of 511lbs. both dressed out at 424lbs I think, (I have also heard 402lbs I think dnr said 424lbs) One was shot in the 20s, and one was shot in the 80s.
Its hard to find information about it, there used to be some on the minnesota dnr website, I dont know if it is there anymore or not, but you could probably call them and get the information if you really wanted it.

i live in nebraska and have not heard one word of a 420 pound deer here. to my knowledge the heaviest whitetail ever taken was a 350 pound deer up in maine. i could be wrong though. i just went to the minnesota dnr website i stand corrected. i guess a 500 pound deer is possible.

i seen this deer last year and it had a news ad posted as wal that said the deer was recovered a day later after hot weather and that it was estmated weight because it was measured to get the weight because thye had no scale
but i would say it is possiable and if it is real congrats also i would say if it is real it would be in the record books for nebraska i might check that out
