Might be a bit of a drive but Maine has a lot of bear. My father in law has camps in Portage. A guy from Mississippi comes up every year and hunts with me there. Buy a license over the counter. www.highlandingcamps.com

Do not forget North Carolina as a bear state. We kill lots of bear every year and on average they outweigh any bear taken in North America. Dolly Parton' cousin took one 880 pounds in Carolina. This bear is the current world record weight. It was a 10 year old male. If anyone wants to know more about NC bear hunting Google search " Mattamuskeet bear hunting "and read the first hit listed.

Ive alwayse said black bears are just big raccoons and have never aplied for points.On the other hand, Kodiaks or ak. browns, or polar bears whuld be something!
