Pretty Good Week In Southern Illinois

Spent the last week at our farm in Pope County and had some pretty good hunts. The deer are still pre-rut, but they are wanting to get things started. My brother runs a taxidermy shop in Edwards Co. and while the rut hasn't kicked in, he says business has really started picking up in the last week or so...lots of bruisers beingbrought in. During my week I had lots of shot opps at several young bucks and was about to close the deal on a great 10 point when a bobcat showed up and spooked him. Still lots of season left so I'm not too worried. I'd say by the second weekend of November the rut will be in full swing. Hope ya'll score big in November.

Sounds good. I'll be down in Jackson County all of next week, can't wait!
Could you have legally smoked the bobcat, since they're not listed??

RE: Pretty Good Week In Southern Illinois

To my understanding, it is illegal to harvest a bobcat in IL. I'm not sure why. Its not like they are a desired animal to have running around the farm. I'm hoping he walked by the deer camera. I guess that'll have to be my trophy for now. I know in KY we have a season for bobcats and the limit is 3 per hunter. I wish IL would put them on the list, if only for a couple of weeks out of the year.
