Here's a quick pic from my phone. I shot her a little after 2pm..when it was 60º...in freakin' November! Very tall mature doe. The entry hole is the little dark patch on her right shoulder...the exit was ugly.

I took her to get processed at a place called D&D's. They just started processing last year...I was their first customer ever..lol. I highly suggest trying them out...although right now they are swamped.

Nice deer Pat. What do you pay for processing? I take mine to a place called Rances, they have pretty much monopolized the deer processing business in our county. They have a big barn and it's like a drive through, you just pull in and they take it and hang it for you and then you leave. I bet 90 percent of hunters use that place here. They have 3 or 4 refrigerated trailers they use. I got mine back yesterday, i paid 65 for regular cuts, 10 bucks for a cape since it is my biggest buck so far, and the total came out to 108 bucks. I had 55 pounds of burger which cost me 33 dollars. With my doe i had planned on getting some summer sausage mixed with cheddar cheese, also some italian sausage to go along with the regular cuts. I think thats going to be too expensive though. I might just have my dad make us some jerkey and sausage. He makes good jerkey, last year was his first attempt at summer sausage. It was good, just a little dry though.

I still havent been back out hunting. Was going to go tonight but the wife has to work so im gonna stay home with the boy and watch the Colts. I seen some absolute freaks at the taxidermist yesterday. A couple racks so thick i could barely get my hand around the base, they were nontypicals and downright ugly i thought. Me and the taxi were talking and he said he had never seen a deer that big in the woods, and i said i havent seen a deer half that size in the woods lol. The one guy that brought one in said he seen a bigger one the same morning but couldnt get a shot, then he says "im gonna go get him tonight" right in front of the taxidermist. Guess he wasnt aware of the OBR. He could have just said his wife was going to go get it lol.

This one is coming out to roughly $100. ½ summer sausage, ¼ burger, ¼ steaks/chops.

I wanted to go out this morning..same stand I got my doe out of. Deer were everywhere by it yesterday...but the wife convinced me to stay home today. Nice day to relax and watch some football.

BTW, the Colts *should* handle the Eagles tonight...but we have a problem making backup QB's look like Pro-Bowlers at times..and Jeff Garcia is no chump. I have a buddy going to the game...he was REALLY mad when they moved it to Sunday night. Good thing I didn't get tickets with him.

Thats not bad for 1/2 summer sausage. I may look around and see what some of the surrounding counties are charging. I have a friend thats going to the game tonight too with his boss, he is going to the Monday night game too. My wife was ticked that they moved the time, she works from 6pm to 6am so she wont get to watch unless they are slow up at the hospital. Will be interesting to see what happens after that loss, hopefully they put together a complete football game tonight.

My wife is an RN in Bluffton..and says the old men are always watching IU and Colts games when they play late enough.

I have never forced her to watch a game, but when I'm hunting she'll watch and text me what's going on. She really understands the game, positions, plays, rules...but yet she leaves me alone when I'm home to watch. I like it like that..b/c all she does is tell me to stop yelling when she's in the same room.

Yeah, I don't blame her though. Last Sunday, it was fairly violent around the house. The dog was hiding under the bed before the end of the 1st qtr. lol
