Panther Creek, Illinois

Has anyone hunted Panther Creek West of Springfield? If so is it worth the drive from Decatur?

I hunted it last year saw some big bucks though the spoting scope but never got a shot on a good buck .I saw more hunters then anywhere I have ever hunted and theres 3 or 4 tree stands around every field .Last year I was drawn for the 3rd week of oct. this year I drew the last week of oct. the deer are well educated by all the traffic .At least 3 times I was in my stand and had to watch others put up stands and waste my evening.I am not used to that kind of pressure, but I'll try again b/c I can't afford a lease. Good luck to all.

Lots of land 15,000 plus acres, and lots of hunters. Yes you will see nice bucks but getting close to them can be hard. I have hunted there for years and will be there again this year. Its not easy dealing with the pressure but I have found spots to get away from the crowds. Once you hunt it some you will learn some tricks to the place. Make sure you have access to a deer cart. 2 Years ago my buddy shot a monster that was 1 1/2 miles from the road and it would have taken forever without a cart.

I will be there from Nov 5th for 7 days

If you are talking about Site M like said before there is lots of big bucks and lots of hunters i think last year or the year before a 200" deer was takin out of there. If your talking about the bow hunting club in chatham iv never been to it i pass signs all the time but didnt know if it was public or private?
