2006 Minnesota Hunting Regs - Question
 

I just saw that the 2006 hunting regs are published for Minnesota on the DNR website. I just read through the deer hunting section and I have a question that hopefully someone can clear up for me. First of all here is the link for the regulations.

We can take a max. of 5 deer per year with any combination of license and bonus permits. My question is on the all season deer license. It states that only two antlerless may be taken per season (firearm, archery, muzzleloader) but what is not clear is if this includes bonus tags or not. In other words, even if I have 5 tags I can only use two antlerless per season OR does this just mean the two that comes with the license when you purchase it? (You get 3 tags when you buy the license - 2 antlerless and 1 either sex) Any help decifering this would be greatly appreciated.

Just shoot the DRN an email asking the question. Better to get the answer from the horses mouth than advice from someone who is "pretty sure". They are usually really good at getting back to you, though sometimes it takes a few days.

The all season tag comes with 2 tags 1 buck 1 doe. You may buy up to 5 total. the 2 that came with the license and 3 more.

Actually TeeJay the all season comes with 3 this year - 2 antlerless and one conditional either sex.

Quote from the 2006 regs (new in 2006 section):

"The all-season deer license has three tags; no more than one buck may

be tagged, and up to three antlerless deer may be tagged under certain

conditions. Refer to individual deer season sections."

I believe that there are probably some contract attorneys that can't be sure of what is meant in the regs. Had a question stumping me last week and got a hold of the DNR at 888-646-6367 and they happily answered the question. Good luck!
