I'll be hunting Crawford Co. again this year. 151" and 139" in the last two seasons. Hoping to continue. Waiting for it to cool down.

Live in Mchenry country, bow hunting in Whiteside, Jasper and Crawford counties, boomstick hunting in Crawford county.
Cant seem to find any land in Mchenry county to bow hunt even though it seems there is not a lot of hunting going on around here (ie 672 either sex tags available for gun season still)
Good luck to everyone.

Jersey and possibly Calhoun counties for me. I have already seen bucks chasing does around and bucks fighting and scraping. Seems a little early for the chasing, but I had a 130 inch 8 point run a doe right under me.
Deer sightings are not that great for me right now.

Jim,
Theres lots of tags here in McHenry county because of the CWD deal here. They increased the tag numbers big time for the 3 counties that have CWD in them. Problem is (like you said) is they can add a million tags but if people dont have a place to go it doesnt help them.
The Conservation District has some good hunts there I dont know if you looked into that or not.

RE: Who's deer hunting in IL?
Thanks for the reply Don.
I didnt think the cwd would keep most everyone from hunting, maybe just keep 'em from eating the deer until the results came back.
Tried to get tags at moraine hills but didnt get drawn. Hunting there would be strictly for convenience though as i've had pretty bad luck on public land such as peppered with shot multiple times during dove season and the state pheasant hunts at Des Plaines, ricochet off a tree not 20 feet from meduringfirearm season(yes, i was wearing more then the legal limit of orange and this was in Michigan not Illinois), and the worst is the few people that spoil it for everyone else, Mr and Mrs ME ME ME. But moraine hills is only a quarter mile from the house, as opposed to 6 hours to get to the private land i'm hunting now. So i'll try it once, if i ever draw a tag for there, and worse case is i waste first firearm season.
Now if they would only open up the Mchenry city parks to bow hunting, i could fill tags all day. :-)
Thanks again
