Wisconsin - Looking for Hunting Land

Howdy,

My hunting cohort and I are looking for some spots in Wisconsin for Fall Gun Deer Hunting. We were hunting in Kewauskum but after being there a few years it seems the area's cleaned out. This past season I saw and took a shot at a young buck but missed. Noone else in the vicinity saw or heard anything all weekend. I'd like to go someplace where I'm not restricted to the use of my shotgun since I've got a .30-06 I'm dying to use but trying to not go farter than 2 - 2 1/2 hours from Milwaukee. If you have suggestions please shoot me an email. Thanks.

Shannon

I'm Sorry, but A Good Hunter Can Never Reveal his Secret Hunting Land.

It depends on the hunter. A good plot of land that's not inhabited by hunters can seem dead until you get a few in the woods that can stir up and move some deer around. This is really who I'm looking to find a response from.

Try the Big Flats area by Friendship. Just north of Milwaukee you have a large public hunting area off of 45 by Jackson.

Its like a war over there during gun season. Check out the wisconsin dnr website it shows all the public areas.
