Very nice. Looks to be several inches in deductions with the g2's not matching and the two kickers, but still very nice! Gun or bow kill?

Jberryx24 11-21-2005 06:45 PM

RE: pic of new potential indiana world record

on the deers lest side that small point is not his g2. well i guess it is if u dont count that right sidre as a double brow tine. behind that monster tine on the left side if u look close enough u can barely make out the antler on the side. this is a hige deer.... i have heard rumors of possibly a new world record i dont think so

tristan1127 11-22-2005 02:31 PM

RE: pic of new potential indiana world record

jbeerry you may want to check again. five inches up each side is a g2. the one on the right side of the pic is about three inches and the one on the left with the kicker looks to be nine or so.

Sorry, but I agree. Way to many deductions to be the world record.

RE: pic of new potential indiana world record

But still a very beautiful deer whatsoever! Congrats! What was it killed with and where in Indiana? I hunt in Winimac, Indiana and we have a ton of bucks up there. Probably at least, gosh, ten over 290. I saw them out in a field one morning fighting and "messing around" with doe. It was a site to see.

Jberryx24 11-24-2005 07:57 PM

RE: pic of new potential indiana world record

indiana..? no way u saw ten deer 290.. not even ten deer closed to 290 in indiana or even anywhere. Especially in the same field.>? they would have faught every minute untill one left the area or died... there is no way

Indianahunter2009 11-24-2005 08:37 PM

RE: pic of new potential indiana world record

Like I said...or thought I said...they were fighting...did I say that I say all of them in the field at the same time? If I did, I didn't mean that. I didn't see them all at the same time. They kept running each other out of the field. I'm guessing 290...they weren't probably all that big, but there were at least two that were...the others were like probably...200-210 ish....It was hard to tell except for those two...they were over 200 hundred yards away. Sorry for the confusion!

Let me run that through my "BS translator"........

He saw a few bucks...one was big...possibly a 190. The others might have been 140 class or so.

:D

Was he talking 190 inches or pounds?

RE: pic of new potential indiana world record

This deer harvest was first reported by the president of the Indiana Deer Hhunters Association, on the site they own.

The IDHA president reported that this deer will flirt with the world record.

The deer was checked in at The Outdoorsman, in Greenwood, IN

The successfull hunter failed to show up at the check station and sent his dad in with the deer (as the story goes).

Further......

The license the deer was checked with was purchased AFTER the start of General Firearms, and was gun killed less than 24 hours after the license purchase. The deer was not checked for almost 48 hours after the reported kill.

The deer was reportedkilled in the area of Morgantown, IN

It is also reported that the father who checked the deer, had already checked a buck deer during Indiana's early archery portion of the deer season.

Indiana is currently under a temporary One Buck Per Deer Season Rule.

I got news for ya bud, there are a lot of deer over 290 in Indiana. Yeah maybe his story may be exaggerated. But Indiana is becoming a state to rival with these days. If you paid attention to the **** coming out of our state maybe you'd know this.

I'm sorry for that. I'm eating my own words here. I ment 190 my apologies. I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention. That's my bad bro. I meant 190. I agree with ya about 290. I doubt there's very many that big out there. The guy who wrote that though probably also meant 190 though. Once again, that's my bad. Sorry about that.

Why didnt he just do what everyone else does and purchase the boys tag BEFORE the season to avoid any speculation?:D I thought you had to check a deer in before 24 hours after killing it?

I seen the original post on this deer. Looked like somebody was just wanting some traffic to the website. He told the story without having any hard facts himself, then blasted everyone else for talking about it all over the net and creating rumors. What did he expect? You had to name that site if you copied the post anywhere on the net. Very Ironic if the stories about this deer are true considering the OBR.

Hmmm, if this is true it sounds like dad popped a second buck and ran out and bought a tag for his boy.
"Dad, will you take my deer to have it checked in. I`m going back to the house for a nap."
I doubt theres a hunter in Indiana that wouldnt want to check a deer like that in.

I`m not trying to start anything or accuse anyone of wrongdoing, but I`m sure I`ll get bashed anyway.:)

All very good questions. That deer (providing it was not a penned escape) belonged to the citizens of Indiana prior to it's harvest. Therefore we have every right to ask these questions. I truely hope it is all legit, it would be great press for Indiana.

There are some bruisers running around Indiana now. I've personally seen 2 this year that would have gone over 200 easy. One is a large non-typical that I'd put in the 240-260 class and another is a very large typical with 2 kickers that I'd put 200-210, guess the kickers would make him non-typical but he does not have a narly rack its similar to the one that is the main event of this topic. I've also seen the pics of the deer you are talking about in person and its a nice deer but no where world record size i'd put it at 180-190. I've seen the pic you guys have on here plus there are a few other angles.

RE: pic of new potential indiana world record

i think everyone needs a Boone and Crockett scoring 101 class here..the chance of seeing a buck over 200" even in the best hunting areas is once in a lifetime. i dont doubt indiana has good deer, but seeing even 2 or 3 bucks over 150" in one field would be extremely rare. either everyone here has got their deer on steroids or you guys just have no clue on how to field judge deer..

"i dont doubt indiana has good deer"

I take it you haven't hunted Indiana in the last ½ dozen years? I saw a couple nice deer this year. Last year a 190 class 11pt was taken right across the road from where we hunt...the same deer I saw opening day last year chasing does. This year I took a nice buck..and saw a couple after that that were much bigger...140 at the bare minimum.

Sure, you're from Wisco..big deal. Been there...hunted it...saw nothing to make me say Indiana is worthless and has no good deer. I hunted Adams Co and La Crosse Co...saw nice deer..but nothing aw inspiring.

I'll stick with the hidden jewel of Indiana. 5 deer this year for me.

I never said the deer I saw were in the same field. I hunt all over the entire state.
