"On top of that, in 15 years of heavy huntingIndiana private & public land I have seen a grand total of zero bucks over 140 class."

You're not hunting the right area's then.

Too bad it couldn't have lived long enough to make the firearm season. I'm hunting Parke county opening weekend.:)

Depends on WHERE exactly in Indiana you are referring to as far as buck quality goes... I've seen some bruisers come from the south where it isn't as industrialised, but up in this area, and I also am only 45 minutes from Warsaw, we don't get NEAR the big boys! We had a state record shot in the county I hunt last year (Noble county), but we STILL don't have very many biggun's around here. Ask certain people and they will say differently, but I just haven't seen any monsters. Sure we have nice sized average 10 pointers and such, but there isn't a whole lot of area around here that landowners will give permission to hunt. I'm sure we have some P & Y's around here, but I haven't really seen many. The biggest buck I've seen (in person) is the one that my hubby shot 5 years ago, a nice wide 8 pointer.

I think Kosciousko County has some nice bucks though, I've read a few articles on it... (that's where Warsaw is) I would definitely NOT spend money to hunt here if you have money to hunt ILL! That's for darn sure!

And like was said earlier, I'm thrilled with my 14" wide 7 pointer that I took last year out of Noble cty.

I hunt up in North Central Indiana (Cass County). I have hunted for 15 years and i think i have seen maybe 3 mature bucks. However, 2 of those have been in the past 4 years. It all depends on the land in which you are hunting, and wether or not you are properly managing your herd. I dont shoot small bucks, the problem i have though is the guys on all the neigboring properties do and so it hurts my efforts. I have tried to talk them before about maybe letting some of the smaller deer go and they dont want to hear it. Last year i listened to the idiot in the woods behind me unload his gun at 8 am, i saw him and asked him if he had gotten anything, he told me he missed all 5 times on a 4 pointer.[:@]

I have 2 uncles who have shot some monsters around here though. My one uncle has 6 big boys mounted in his living room. 2 made the books, my other uncle took a 18 pointer 2 years ago with a spread of 20 inches.

Last weekend when my buddy checked in his 7pt at "The Angler" in Steuben Co...the owner said he's checked in only 3 deer that weighed more than mine (185lbs field dress)..topping out with a 14pt that tipped the scale to 242lbs field dressed!!!

BHG! Kosciousko County is awesome..in some area's! The woman's parents have a lake house on Palestine Lake...her dad hunts a woods just a ½ mile south west of the lake. His trail cam pics are crazy! Several 140+ class bucks roam those woods...and tons of big does too. He always takes a big deer from that land.

Kosciousko County could be awesome if some sort of QDM were practiced. I pass up the 2.5 year olds to have them jump the fence and get hammered!
