Wisconsin was among some of the first States in the Union I believe to outlaw the death penalty. Believe me,there are bothsides of the death penalty in this Stateand on theissue of this matter, but that is all here and there.

In our State you can be convicted to life in prison and life in prison without the opportunity for parole which basically means you are institutionalized the rest of your life. Vang I am sure will be behind bars for many years. He will be a ward of the State you might say. During that time I am sure there will be countless appeals and motions to suppress but all in all he will still be incarcerated.

Once again, this is my opinion.

In an instance where you are guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt, like in this case. Death penaly within 24 hours of the conviction.

I know in a lot of cases, you can't prove it to that extent, but in the certain cases where you can, I don't believe we should pay for these guys to sit and rot.

IL_BOW_MAN even though there is good reason to agree with you, that fast of an execution of sentence would be impossible. Especially in the case of as you give the example, the death penalty. There is always the chance of mitigating circumstances arising.

Take for example this case. Even though beyond a shadow of a doubt he was found guilty, what if it was later learned that one of the jurors was not qualified because of residency, family relations, criminal history, or a number of other reasons. This is unfortunately valid grounds for a re-trial in many states.

What if later it was learned the State with held valid or pertinent evidence which would have changed the severity of the final punishment to something less then the death penalty. This again, happens all the times. That is the reason for such delays and the reason for court appeals.

Granted all of this is a thorn in the side of the tax payer and the law enforcement community, but it is the one way in which we can guarantee fair and legal justice for all under the present court legalsystem.

It is for some of these reasons, and reason of moral grounds that many States have removed or greatly modified the circumstances of the death penalty on their books and are instead using the life in prison without the possibility of parole.

A new twist to the members of the forum on this topic.. a What if.. What if Vang had gotten out of the tree, cooperated with all their requests, apologized for the trespass and while attempting to walk away was physically restrained and even brutally beaten up for his crime of trespassing from the land owner and friends. Would you feel it correct for the law to then pursue criminal charges of assault against the land owner and friends? The reason I ask this is because we were discussing this topic just yesterday and we came at it from this angle... What do you think?
Yes they should be. You should never take the law into your own hands. If I see someone on your land this year I will first ask them to leave and if they do not I will walk awayand thencall the local police and have them removed. That way they do not see me calling and I have a officer there when I go back.
yeah... whatever happened to "Leave on your own or I'm coming back with the Fuzz?"

Il Bow Man, you are closer to the truth than you may think. I have heard from people very close to the situation that the hunters that were either killed or injured were not as snowy white as the media made them out to be. As you have said, I too in no way condone his choices or have difficulty with the verdict. What he did was flat out wrong. He will be sent to jailfor a very long time sincethere is no death penalty here in Wisconsin.

>>>> Make no mistake,Wisconsin is one of the most liberal states in the midwest. The Teachers Union there is among the most radical in the country, and support ONLY Democratic candidates with the kookiest left wing agendas! This guy Vang will most certainly end up in protective custody, otherwise the Skinheads on the yard would surely make short work of him!

UPDATE!!!
They believe he was the party involved with the unsolved Deer Hunting Murder in my home county (Clark County Wi) a few years back, the truck is identical to the one described, and the hunter was also shot in the back multiple times. They are also thinking he was involved with another murder in another state as well, during deer hunting season there, cant remember what state that was i think Indiana.

That's outstanding to hear!!! I think they ought to cut his arms and legs off and put him in a basket. Then insert a slow drip system to keep him alive for a couple of months and put him on the outdoor channel and espn and let folks watch him rot to death.............
