Upper Penisula, Michigan?
 

Anybody here hunt or live in the UP? I live in Chicago but a bud of the family owns some acreage in Menominee county and we hunt up in Daggett and Carney.

I head up to the Crystal Falls area a few times each fall to hunt grouse & woodcock. Come February we make a couple trips to walleye fish on Little Bay DeNoc.

I am from Iron Mountain/Kingsford and we hunt in the Amasa area. Gotta love the UP big woods!:D

I live in Northern Iowa now but born & raised in Northern Ill..Used to Bowhunt several weekends & a week in Nov. years ago around Boulder Jct., Ws. right near the border. Now I average every other year for a few days with friends.
Will be up North this year near Hayward Ws & maybe Boulder Jct...
Some nice Bucks runnin those partsof the country. Good Luck.

Yeah I live in the U.P.,I also live in Menominee County,I live ona back road near thetown ofPowers.
It's only 15 min. away from Dagget,,five min. from Carney.
I do hunt up here also,My Bear hunt starts the 15th of Sept.
I also Hunt Deer,Turkey,Phesant ,Patridge,Ducks,Geese,Rabbits and any other critters that are in season.

I'm from Toledo Ohio, but I take a 10 day hunt in Menominee just outside Powers, for the last couple years.

I got what I thought was a big doe last year, but it turned out to be a button buck.

I love it up there, I just wish it wasn't 8 hours / $120 in gas away.

Ever go to the Four Seasons? I went there for the first time last year, pretty amazing place for being in the middle of nowhere.

Kodiak do you come up for archery -rifle or muzzeloading season??
Shoot we should almost get a get together for the U.P. hunters hunting in Menominee county,During Rifle season,Nothing fancy just a get together.

I'm not really sure when we are heading up there yet. Last year we were there for the election which I think was two weeks before gun season. This year I think we'll be going sometime in Mid October.

I only go for the archery season, but the guys that own the cabin I stay at usually hunt both. When I nail down the dates that we'll be up there I'll let you know.

I'm looking forward to hitting the Island Casino.

Even in Northern Wisconsin we know what a Kromer is. I've been wearing a Kromer cap for I don't even count the years anymore. They have to be one of the best winter hats ever made. I have a dark blue wool one for dress of course...:D And a blaze orange one for deer hunting which sure comes in handy when the wind is blowing. And lets not forget ice fishing.

They stay warm when wet, although they do shrink a little from time to time... They are great for plowing snow on the ATV or walking behind the snow blower. When I read this part of the post, I just started laughing.

My Dad saw mine one winter when he was visiting and insisted he needed one to protect his bald head, so I sent him one of them. He wears it all the time in Madison, although I do not think mother is fond of the style, but then my Dad always was a fashiontrend setter....

I just got back from a bear hunt in eastern U.P. No luck.Any one have any luck yet on deer or bears?

I'm still looking for a shootable Bear,I have seen six different ones,There was a couple shooter's in the mix but didn't cooperate as to being in a shooting position for me.
I haven't even taken the bow out for Deer yet,70&80 degree weather
doesn't get me in the mood,along with the fact i'm still chasing Bear's.

Born and raised in MQT, I think you should stay in IL.
There are bigger bucks, the deer population is really sucking lately.
The logging is way down and the wolf population is up.
