Actually they made it leagle to shoot albino's here last year within the CWD intenseive management zones, and where I am watching him, is slated to be an intensive management zone this year. If given the leagle opertunity, I will shoot him.

Yeah i heard they were making it legal to shoot em in the cwd zones..But personally I just dont think i could shoot a rare deer like that...Easpecially the size of that big boy...But if he walked in front of me and it being legal, I think my hunting instincts will take over and he wont be standing to much longer...lol It would be an awesome mount and a great hunting story

Here in Minnesota he would be harvested if I saw one and it was legal to take.

Its only illegal to shoot them if they have pink eyes if the eyes are brown it can and will go down.

Acording to the way I understand the law, The color of the eyes has nothing to do with it. As a matter of fact I had a conversation regarding that exact topic with a warden recently while enquireing about shooting white deer. I was told outside the intense management zone NO all white deer may be harvested. Deer must have some brown hair in order to be leagle. White phase deer with normal eye color cannot be shot unless they are pibald

Nice pic! At the Welcome CEnter in Florence, WI there is mounted albino buck that is a real monster. Someone shot it, but then was caught by the DNR and they had it mounted and put it on display. Beautiful animal. In MI it is also illegal to shoot a true albino but it would sure be hard to pass on a rack like that one![:@]

Beautiful buck. I have never heard of a state making taking a white deer illegal? Does anyone know of any other states where its illegal? That makes no management sense. Thats not a rare deer its a deer with a genetic defect. The last thing you want to do is keep that defect in the heard to breed. By all means take those deer where you can, besides they make cool trophies.

It is illegal to shoot albinos in MI to, but it is stupid. It is a ginetic deffect and it should not be protected. Why is it illegal to shoot an all white deer and legal to shoot a half white deer? The DNR don't make any sense.

In IL it is. I remember reading about them it was just one little blurb about it but since I never seen oneit just caught my eye.

yeah, i have never seen one in person either.....
I dont really understand it either....other than the fact that they look really cool....I mean, think about it, since hunters account for a large amount of the deer taken out of the heard, like natural selection, these deer are striving, so their numbers continue to rise......imagine if one day there was a whole other breed of deer, called the Albino deer, because there were so many of them.....its possible, i think.
