Weldon Springs deer hunt

The IDNR will conduct an archery deer hunt this fall at Weldon Springs State Park im Piatt County. Site permits for 12 one-week hunting periods between Oct. 1 and Jan. 9 will be filled through a random drawing of mail-in applications.
The application deadline is June 30. For more information, contact the Weldon Springs State Park office at 217-935-2644 or IDNR Biologist Carl Handel at 217-423-7708.

Actually, I've never been to Weldon Springs. Has anyone else? What's it like? Anyone taken any deer there or very nearby?

I used to fish there for many years and did some camping in the park aslo but never really walked the woods too much. I am not sure if this is their first hunt or not I think it might be. A lady I work with is married to one of the park personell from Clinton lake and they are only a couple of miles from the park and they know all the guys who run the area I will call him and see what the boundries and such might be.
