Johnson County

I will be hunting Johnson County Il, this fall. I have never been down there so can anyone tell me about it. I will be hunting on land that has an apple orchard and it backs up to the Shawnee national forest. Is there a good deer population and will my chances of getting a big buck be good. I would appreciate any info.

My brother shot a 150 class buck near the Grantville (?) Prison in 2000. He was hunting with a shotgun with an outfitter there. The guy tripled his prices since.
I think you have a good chance of seeing some nice bucks anywhere in Illinois.

ChiTownBuck, hello. I also live up near Chicago in Bolingbrook.
I've been hunting Johnson for about the last seven years (?)
Before that I only hunted Williamson.

There's no shortage of deer or quality in Johnson.

Matter of fact it's one of the top counties in the state.

I hunt on farms just a few miles down Rt 37 from 146 (Check station) right off 37 at Chappel Hill (N. edge of Cypress) and at 37 and Dongola Blacktop (S. edge of Cypress).

I've never not had ample opportunities and can't complain at all of my success.

Now....."Go Get Ya One!"
