Question regarding Kansas NR Deer Tags

Is there any better odds if applying as a "buddy" versus applying as individuals? I can't see any advantage to applying as a buddy other than its all or nothing. Either both of you get tags or neither of you do. Was just curious if buddies are given any preference.

Also, do they draw the Landowner/Tenant tags before drawing the NR tags? I didn't quite understand how they did that. It didn't make sense because it said "up to 50% of the tags are allotted to landowner/tenant tags". That indicates to me that they draw the NR tags first and then the leftover tags become landowner/tenant tags.

Thx,
Chris

RE: Question regarding Kansas NR Deer Tags

It is my understanding that the landowner/tenant tags get first priority, upto 50% of the tags. For example, if there are 10,000 available tags and there are 5,000 landowner/tenants that applied for the tags, then that's all that they would get and the non-res. would get the other 5,000, but if only 4,000 landowner/tenants apply for the tags, then 6,000 become available for non-residents.
This may not be right either, but I think this is how it works! Either way, it will make it hard for a non-resident to get a tag, unless you're a KS. landowner that lives in a different state, and then you still get preference!
