R.I.P. Rebel Hog

For those that knew him I am sorry to say that he had went to the great beyond yesterday.. I have been friends with him from the time i joined HNI.. He was a member here from 2005.. Rest In Peace my friend..

Game Stalker 08-09-2015 10:08 AM

This site has many members so this type of news may become more frequent. He was eternally secure and that's the best anyone can hope for. Best regards to his family.

CalHunter 08-09-2015 10:11 AM

This is sad news and unfortunately happening too much around here. May God bless and keep Rebel Hog with him in Heaven and comfort his family and many friends.

Champlain Islander 08-09-2015 12:06 PM

Yup he was a good guy and will be missed. RIP Rebel Hog.

mr4pt 08-09-2015 03:25 PM

RIP old friend

Champlain Islander 08-09-2015 04:41 PM

I would make a suggestion to the admin at HNI. To the best of my knowledge we have had 4 of our long term members pass away in the last year. Perhaps someone with the power could give them a special designation such as revered member or something else that would show respect to them and all their posts here on the site. Each one of the 4 listed below really made contributions over the years. All 4 were quality people.

You are welcome... He has been a good friend of mine as well.. We would message each other in the very early am when he had trouble sleeping and I was up at work.. At my job I am monitoring the machine and being the only one in the control room they allow me to use the internet.. They want me to stay awake from all the hum there that will put you to sleep after a few hours of hearing it.. It is a boring job at times but it pays.. Most people couldn't stand it for very long..

Judyboi 08-14-2015 09:46 AM

What about a sticky at the top of the page?

CalHunter 08-14-2015 09:32 PM

That part is easy. We're waiting for a separate R.I.P. forum for departed members.

Judyboi 08-14-2015 11:49 PM

Love it. A R.I.P. forum sounds great

Heres a pic of MTHands, Chuck7, Rebel Hog and REb's wife..

jerseyhunter 08-16-2015 09:51 AM

Condolences to family and friends. RIP RH. on a side note a forum acknowledging members who have past is a good idea, there's one on another forum I visit. It gives comfort knowing they are not forgotten.

Thank you Chuck for that wonderful picture. Reb was a solid guy with some strong principles and it showed by his posts. I will always remember him. Respect given willingly with little or no hesitation.

Chuck7 08-16-2015 03:58 PM

Welcome Sir Islander.

Ruger-Redhawk 08-17-2015 05:18 AM

I'm very sadden to read this. I've been a member here for several years, unfortunately I'm not able drop in very often like I once did.
Rebel Hog and I emailed back and forth several times over the years. He was always more than willing to help if you had a question about most anything.

I stopped in here a month or so ago when I noticed he hadn't been here since last year which wasn't like him. When I saw that I knew something had to be wrong.
When I was still living in FL we didn't live that far away from each other but we never met face to face. Then I moved and we lost touch.
R.I.P. Friend until we meet again.

Chuck7 08-18-2015 02:07 PM

Reb was awesome...very friendly..we communicated a lot. First time we met he gave me 4 fishing poles. MTHands gave me a box of bass jigs...and Strut sent me a new muzzleloader, LaCroose Boots and 1 1/2 white tail deers processed by UPS....some very generous men on here...to say the least. The deer was sent by 1 day air mail.

Ruger-Redhawk 08-20-2015 06:20 AM

I posted Rebel Hog's Obit the other day then I deleted it. I wasn't sure if it was against the rules or if it was appropriate or not. I was contacted by a moderator and he said it was not against the forums rules. I didn't realize anybody had already seen it when I deleted it. It was only on for a few minutes. Anyway here's Rebel Hogs Obit.

just one more boast about Reb...When I got here..I couldn't stand the guy.We were on the religious forum..argued all the time..THEN we met face to face..{--; and became very good friends..He drew me maps on areas to hunt because I was new to FL hunting when I joined Hunting,net..I actually joined here to look for a hook up and gain some FL tips..I got both. Reb has a special Facebook HNI group and invited me there..He has taken me under his wing and was up ALL night long..whenever I posted he was always there. He just got his first grandson about 6 months ago..very sad. He was a baptist but was very open to other Christian beliefs..We had no problems of any kind. He was very kind and warm hearted. I met twice with him at restaurants...He was an advid hog hunter...and die hard Christian..We were actually planning another restaurant hook up....but his time came.

I wouldn't worry about it Chuck. You did him right and so did he. You both through slightly differing faiths decided there was room for a relationship. It was the perfect relationship. Enjoy your afterlife Reb.

Terrible news! Happening far too much around here lately. RIP Old friend. He will be missed. :(

CalHunter 08-21-2015 09:09 PM

For those of you wondering why the change of forums for Reb's memorial, this new forum has been designed as a permanent place for memorial topics honoring fallen members.

Sorry to hear about Reb. Although we lived very close together, we never had the chance to meet. I had never hunted this particular WMA that I drew and he went out of his way to give me some very good pointers. He was a class act and will be missed.
R.I.P. sir.

pigiron 08-24-2015 04:35 PM

RIP Rebel.. shame to see some of the older members gone. Champlain, I did not know Rickmur had passed away as well.. damn

younggun308 08-30-2016 10:31 PM

When I logged back on the site a couple weeks ago, it was for the first time in 8 years, so this is news to me.
I was quite frankly an incredibly annoying HNI member when I got to know him (I was between the ages of 13 and 15 when I used this site extensively, so I was too eager to jump in on every discussion forcefully). But he was incredibly patient with me despite that and, in his own way that was firm but was not hurtful, set me straight a couple of times. He had the kind of online presence that made a young kid want to look up to "the old guys."
Perhaps my most fond memory of him on here was when I got my first big game rifle (and I still use it, every year), but I could not figure out how to post pictures on this site. After seeing me flounder a few times posting pic-less threads, he had me send him the pictures via e-mail and started a thread to post the pictures so I could show everyone. He even noticed the scope was mounted too far back, and told me I should get that adjusted in order to avoid some serious scope eye! Sigh...memory eternal, Rebel Hog.

Rest In Everlasting Peace Rebel Hog

oldelkhunter 12-12-2017 10:59 AM

Rest in Peace Emilio. You were always a man of integrity and grace. I have lost so many friends and family in the past few years, it only reminds me of what a short time we have on this earth. Best to spend that time as God would want us to .
