Would love to. But I'm already up to my neck in mortage payments on hunting ground in Illinois that cost about half per acre what they are asking. Don't want to come across with too many negative vibes though. So, if you can get your price, good for you.

Most land auctions here in NE Indiana I've been to the past few months run anywhere from $2000-$3500, depending mostly on quality of tree's and soil type.
My buddy bought 50 acres of wooded land in Noble County Indiana for $3200/acre in August. After the paperwork was finished, he had a "quality cut" tree harvest that brought in 15k the first few weeks of September.

It seems that in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, the further north you go, the higher the prices get. I know that wooded land in southern Illinois pretty much peaked around $2000 to $2500 and has since dropped somewhat. On the other hand, you will probably never see land in central and northern Illinois (in general) drop below $3000 or more.

The asking price in the opening post here seems well inline with going rates.....maybe even a good deal! And this is coming from a guy that once stated(not very long ago) that he would NEVER pay 3k for an acre of land.
I am currently begging someone to take 4k per acre for a 106 acre parcel for a new home.[:-]
