Big heads

Got a call from cousin Marty from St. Louis this morning. he was down below the dam at carlyle. Said big heads were every where. of all the times he has been there had never seen anything like it. Said they had 3 gates open and the water was really running. high enough for a boat to go over the rapids. Him and a buddy ended up shooting 75. they were trophy hunting trying only to shoot 25 pounders. he said if they had someone taking off the fish and wacking them, they could have shot 150. Said that they were above and below the barrels by the dam. said it was hard to miss.:rock:

Yesterday Marty aka Mr. Calyle went again to Carlyle and shot 26 big heads and 8 silvers incuding a two for one shot on a pair of big heads. said it was really slow in the morning and they did noot see a fish until after 12:45 and were ready to hang it up when up they came (the fish) and they were in fishthe rest of the day; water was really low as all the gates were closed.

If we could find a spare couple of hours, we'd be down there!

Keep us updated. Thanks!

If the warm weather holds out sounds like a good time. I'm frustrated down here in florida, i have yet to boat a fish. It is amaizing how hard bow fishing is downhere. First it is always windy this close to the gulf. Because everything is food down here there is no such thing as a standing shot, everything is on the move, plus trying to see what it is if you can shoot or not, by then it is gone. There are only a few species that you can shoot. Already been checked by one game warden, boy was he suprised to see a bow fisher. He said he almost never sees any. I was competely legal, he did not even ask to see my license, even tho i offered. He was competely in cognito. Was a normal 18 foot boston wailer no id and he was not in uniform. Our first indication was when he came up to us he turned on his blue lights and pulled out his badge. Checked us out and away he went. Nice to be legal and not have to look over your shoulder. Just came back from a nice walk with the wife. Seen a huge 12' gator just across the creek from us.

I heard about your Father-in-Law. Sorry for your loss. Give Connie a hug for me.

That bowfishing does sound tough. Maybe give up on the bowfishing and chase more hogs?
