Hmmmm I'm still worried about Billy K and Johnny B showing up in drag to win it all. That ceratinly would give them a substantial head start. (and a good portion of the lake to themselves!)

deer_predator 05-29-2011 11:20 AM

Na.. that's when we just let the HPS shine... they do their best work in the murky water!....

JPIKE 05-29-2011 01:22 PM

i got the same exact hps lights you do and they was not going in at all...best vis was like 6". But then i didnt go all over the entire lake either and im sure there is some good water out there somewhere. Cant wait to see how the lake does this week and what it looks like sat.

deer_predator 05-29-2011 04:36 PM

It's going to be interesting for sure.... I don't think I am even going to waste the gas and prefish this one...

robow7 06-01-2011 06:49 AM

We won't be getting there until around 5 PM so we won't be fishing during the daytime (have to give you all a head start in order to keep it fair), we should be there for the dinner and will then start chasing after dark.

I hear the water up north around Wilborn Creek is always clearer at this time of year ; )

deer_predator 06-01-2011 08:16 AM

I heard it's wayyyy clearer down south?????

deer_predator 06-01-2011 08:22 AM

I'm just sayin....

HNI_Christine 06-01-2011 05:08 PM

Okay, this is what I'm thinking for trailering... Everybody has to use the Wolf Creek ramp during the day. (from the 11am start until say, 7pm). After 7pm, you can trailer to another ramp on the lake. (you must stay on Lake Shelbyville!)

So you can come back in for dinner at 6pm and then when it's dark, drive to another ramp if you want. (some ramps charge a launch fee, and they do give tickets if you don't pay, so be sure to watch for that) If you guys feel strongly one way or another on this, let me know.

Dinner is at 6pm. We will provide deer bratwurst, fried white bass and other meaty goodness. Please bring your own beverages (no alcohol please) and chips or side dish or dessert to share. That worked out really well last year. :)

deer_predator 06-01-2011 05:23 PM

Sure... now that I have a big boys boat you make it trailering... LMAO... Na, it sounds alright....

tperotti2004 06-01-2011 07:09 PM

I'm ready!
:party0007:

robow7 06-01-2011 08:09 PM

Christine, any need for a few bags of Wisconsin crappie fillets recently caught?

JPIKE 06-01-2011 09:32 PM

I like the trailering...I would like it during the day as well since thats when all those freaking monster boats are out putting up the 4ft waves. But last year they were not out yet at 11 but it was no fun getting back intime for the dinner.

JPIKE 06-01-2011 09:33 PM

also whats up with the shad thing. is i always same every year or does that change? was it biggest shad during day last year or something?

robow7 06-01-2011 09:53 PM

Yea, trailoring would be cool, because then I could just put in on the Wilborn ramp up north where I know all the clear water is ; )

HNI_Christine 06-02-2011 05:54 AM

Robster, we would be happy to use the crappie fillets. Do you have an extra fryer by chance?

The reason we won't do the trailering during the day is because there are other tournaments going on out of the other ramps. We need to just use the ramp we have a permit for while these tournaments are going on. At dark those tournaments will be over.

The shad was the bounty fish last year. It changes from year to year. We'll have another bounty fish this year. I think two years in a row it was a bowfin, which nobody ever shoots out of that lake. :) I don't have a designated prize for the bounty fish yet either. Hmmm.....

Lady Forge 06-02-2011 06:13 AM

Christine;
"I don't have a designated prize for the bounty fish yet either. Hmmm..... "
A free barrell of Carp:happy0001:

JPIKE 06-02-2011 08:34 AM

i only shot one bowfin out of there and it was more towards river...is bounty fish always biggest of a certain species?

deer_predator 06-02-2011 10:34 AM

There is a guy who wants to shoot the tourney but needs a ride on a boat... (he's not a bad shot either).... He came with us to the Worlds Tournament last year....

HNI_Christine 06-02-2011 10:51 AM

Joe, the bounty fish might be biggest or longest or shortest. Just depends. We have had it be the shortest gar before. Uncle Dave used to even make a shortest gar trophy. We don't have those this year but we do have plaques for 1st - 3rd places.

Barrel of dead carp. Nice one Deb! Remind me not to let you pick the prizes. ;)

BTW, we do have fish disposal at the tournament so even tho' it's a big 20 tourny, you can shoot a boatload and not worry about what to do with them. There will be barrels on a flatbed trailer for you to put fish in.

.....and as a reminder to everyone, DO NOT put gar in the fish grinders. It clogs up the grinders and then the park staff will hunt you down and make you go into the gears and clean it out. ;)

JPIKE 06-02-2011 09:37 PM

those plaques are AWESOME...maybe i should trade in one of my shooters for these otehrs wanting to go that can hit fish LMAO hope they shot like i know they can since it counts now

Great Job on the plaques, They look awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!

HNI_Christine 06-03-2011 03:35 PM

For our most carp prize:

Carpbusters.com is generously offering a reward to the team that brings in the most carp. They will get $1 per carp! (up to $500.00)

robow7 06-03-2011 04:35 PM

A bounty on carp, how cool is that!

JPIKE 06-03-2011 08:37 PM

thats awesome....what was the number last year?

JPIKE 06-06-2011 09:04 PM

Congrats to the ones that placed. Johnny, Bill and Tracy. Even tho i dont think ill believe anything johhny or bill tell me until after a shoot again. i quote from bill "people say there are grass carp in here but i dont know. I have never seen one b4." I was really set on getting one of those plaques. Now all i got is a sunburn and an a split arrow my buddy shot when i said shoot the fish again. (fish got off to)

Johnny b 06-07-2011 03:01 AM

Got to watch that competition mode. Game on. Actually those were only the 2 & 3 grass carp bill has ever shot and until that day he had never seen any grass carp in the lake. We are still waiting on the shoot pictures to be posted??

oh yea...im just to competitive and et the bar pretty high. We had our chance and it was a blast. always next year and plenty of time for me to find those grassies and get one in the boat

HNI_Christine 06-07-2011 05:14 PM

I'll try to get the pictures up tonight or tomorrow. I had to start my statistics class on Monday and catch up on my work from the weekend.

Haven't even unloaded the truck yet. Ugh.

Have to load it up with stuff for the Two River's fishing fair this weekend. No rest for the wicked I guess. ;)

Thanks for everyone that came out and a special thanks to Chef Deb, Chef Rob and Chef Tracy.

Johnny b 06-08-2011 02:32 PM

Hay Joe, speaking of little fibs, what about that grassie that you shot that pulled off. No one in our boat believed for a split second that you had shot it at the other end of the lake out in the middle. Especially with you coming out of the cove we had just shot all of ours. I was born at night but it was not last night. So it seems a lot of fibbs were being spread around.

HNI_Christine 06-08-2011 06:37 PM

Ken Sharp is telling people he beat 'Team Rough and We're Going Swimming, then Taking a Nap'. Talk about a fibber!
