Default 45 degree water- too early for jumping carp?

Went to Banner marsh, il. bass fishing yesterday and had fish that appeared to be carp jump and land on there side in the back of two different shallow coves. Jumped way out if front of me, but had the size and tell tail "flip, flap, flap " sound of jumping carp. With water in the mid forties, I was surprised. Anybody else seeing fish?

Yea those were most likely Siver Carp... Those stupid fish jump all year long... I sometimes hunt down off of the Mississippi River.. They will be still jumping in late December....

Dang that is early! Was the water up in the shallow coves maybe heating up faster?

Ken, I don't know if the silvers are in Banner. It doesn't connect to the river.

No silvers in Banner. Yet! Water was 43 in main part of the lake and up to 48 or 49 in the back of coves. Both fish jumped in about 3 ft of water. I heard a third but did not see it.

The sound that Sean describes is a common carp jump, not a silver carp jump. Yeah, there will be some jumping at 45 degrees. I think between there and 40 degrees is about where you first start to see common carp jump a bit. When the water hits 40 they really slow down.
