Carlyle Dam 8/25

Took the long 350 mile drive around trip down to Carlyle dam yesterday with cousin marty, KBI-Prez Bill, grandson Tyler. Fishing was realy spotty. Would be in fish real hot and heavy then go a long time and not see anything. Was a lot of foam on the water so was hard to see. Weather was perfect 84, sunny slight wind. Was really suprised to see how high the water was, could cruse right across the rapids. Bill and Marty shot together in Marty's boat and flat kicked our butts. Bill shot the largest fish at 22# 7oz to beat my 19 pounder. They shot 38 big heads to our 19. So a thumping we took. They even shot a double double. both each getting two fish with one shot at the same time. So for a total count was 57 big heads, 5 silvers and one Gar. On a funny note when we got back home I took 3 big heads that I had gutted and Iced down to a chinese rest. I had gave them carp before but not big heads. Boy were they trilled, the owner actually picked up one of the fish and kissed it on the head. Then told me to be sure to stop by today and get a meal on them...got to like that.

Johnny B,I must know your secret! How did you know to go Wed. and not today? Went to Carlyle Dam 8/27.Should have worked on the duck blind.Todd shot 3 bigheads,Rich shot 1 and I shot NONE.I bet the three of us saw 15 total.I shot at 1 and missed. They were gone and/or deep. The boat fisherman, that are regulars, said they dropped the river level overnight.None of them did any good eather. You could still shoot the rappids but the were few and far in between in the corner too.It was a nice day and the company was good.We also ate at the Winery place on the way home. The fish sandwich was good.

Well that's bow fishing. Yesterday my grandson and I hit the wabash river. I just knew we were going to tear them up. Water was low, clear, very little wind. Just one problem no fish. Ended up one gar, and one buffalo. Some things just never change
