Headed to Shelbyville
 

Well the Wife and I are headed down to Shelbyville tomorrow for the rest of the weekend. Depending on the Dog as to how long we will stay. We have a new puppy 7-8 month old. Have no one to leave him with so he is going to get his first boat experience. If he does well will stay through Monday. Will be tent camping so that will be an experience in it's self. Have not had the tent out since we lived in Arizona 9 year ago. Hopefull I can add to the fish count. :cool2:

Shelbyville report. If any one is headed to Shelbyville, Just leave your boat at home and take your hip boots. Unlike the past two years in a row, The water level is as low as I have ever seen it. There are coves that we usually shoot fish in that are dry. Water temperature was a high of 63 to a low of 60 today with full sun out. Went out last night out of Wolf creen boat ramp. Spent two hours and did not see one carp or one gar. Did see one buffalo that I got a running shot at and that was it. Went out again this morning. Weather was perfect, no wind, full sun. The carp was up, but spotty. Still did not see a gar. Was able to wack a couple. Of all things we camped next to a couple that has this big pontoon boat and they wanted to take us out on it. So I had to leave perfect bow fishing condition to go for a boat ride. It was killing me. Sure hope the water level comes up before MAY. Or forget about shooting any grass or structure. Just mud banks. And the dog ( puppy) did fantistic. He rode like a champ and when I was bow fishing he just laid down and took a nap..

Sounds like y'all had fun!....Also sounds like a little brownie points with the Mrs with the "boat ride".....Glad to hear the pup did good too!

Johnny sent me these pictures. The lake is waaay low compared to what we're used to. Tho' according to the USACE lake level info, it's only a little more than a foot below what is normal for this time of year.

The bad thing is, if that's Wolf Creek area, then much of the Wilbourn area up north is likely too shallow to shoot. Which is a shame because at this time of year without a lot of rain to muddy up the water, that can be a lot of fun up there.

Better be careful what ya wish for...lol Might be a rainy year yet. Although it is nice that I don't have the lake backed up in my pasture and fields for a change! The fish will spawn somewhere either way...lol

Well if it doesn't rain I'm gonna be working all day since i work at John Deere and its busy season...lol The rest of the time I will be in the fields. So its gonna be a busy weekend of no bowfishing.

Yeah farming and bowfishing both heat up at the same time. Makes it tough for ya.

If you were going to go out with the water level this low what part of the lake would you look for fish?
