Default Good night fishing up north

Fishpoint (Judd) and I got out Thursday night for a pretty good night of fishing on the DesPlaines River. Had to borrow his small genny to have power for the lights, and we were able to run6 of the 8 fixtures.

Conditions were great. It had been warm and sunny with no rain for several days so the fish were active and the water was clear.

We boated 45 fish, although 1 managed to escape over the side after half an hour in the bucket. Spent about 4 hours on the waterand hada great time. Didn't see spawning activity, but it seemed there were fish everywhere.

You've got the boat, he's got the genny...sounds like a good combination. And judging by the pictures, it's a real good combination.

Were finally getting some good weather up north! Next two weeks should continue to be good shooting.

The fish came at a cost though.
I think I scrambled the innards of my 1 year old Muzzy reel. []

I shot my 50# bow without the bail released, and nowthe reelmakes this funny grinding/thunking noise when I turn the handle, and doesn't bring in any line. Is this bad ?

Just go to a retriever Chris and forget all about those darned spinners!

Just go to a retriever
That's what is on my backup bow, the green one in the pic.
Had no reel-related probs that night after I switched bows.

I just love the speed of the spinners for getting stuff back to the boat, but I will always have a Retriever onboard for competitions to make sure I have something that will work until check-in time.
