Lights for Big Woody
 

I've been busy ordering everything I'm needing to finish the Big Woody. Got my compartment hatches, troller extension,piston and rings for the115 merc on the way. I've been going round and round with lights. I'm considering going with HPS. I think I've read every post on the internet regarding bowfishing lights. What ever did you come up with Rob? I know you didn't like econo's 150's. I don't care for the housing on their 400's. I can't seem to find where to buy them or even a price. I'd like 2 of these in a 400w fixture and maybe 2 at 150w. I know everyone is happy with their halogens and several have tried HPS. Is anyone in our club running HPS lights right now?

Major work is being done on Big Woodythis week so I'll get some pictures up. It's sitting on the trailer now and I was hoping to stick it in the water to see how it floated.

Wow those are big. Over 15" tall and 15" deep.

I looked a little closer at the dimensions. They're not that big. And the boat will handle the extra weight no problem. Just sucks how much they cost. But you get what you pay for.

You gonna have them by the weekend? We can put them on and check them out first-hand. :D

i have shot off of hps and m.h. unless money was no object id stick with halogens

Mark, if you've read all the posts then you know, it's not the volts but the amp draw that eats you up with the HPS's especially at start up. Unless you are willing to spend big bucks for the the nicer ones with the built in capacitors and proper ballast you really need to install inline capacitors to reduce the draw on your genny. The econolights are a prime example.Rab makes some beautiful 150's butLordy they are going to set you back> 7 bills for 6 of them if you can find a decent price.The HD's almost seemed too good to be true,as even though they aren't advertised as having the capacitors built in, supposedly they didfor a while but now not sure and they're on backorder forever or discontinued.
