Brass carp fun shoot
 

Well Here goes. The coveted 'Traveling Brass carp fun shoot will be on Saturday evening/night on March 28, at Wolf creek in Shelbyville Lake. Start with some munchies at 5pm and the tournament to start dark or around 7pm. Will be a big 15 format. Does not look like we will have fish disposal. So most likely will have to get rid of your own fish, unless you can slip a few in Christines boat. Be back at the Ramp at 2:00 AM for weigh in. Large fish $10.00 per boat. No registration fee as this is a fun shoot. Better get those IB9C fees in.

And just so everybody knows, if you win the carp.. you have to put on a fun shot for it next year.

Oh, and we can take a couple barrels of fish but that's about it. (unless you drive them over to Stanford)

Sorry about the timing. April is just too busy with turkey seasona and Billy Davis tournament, and mushrooms. March is the only month were we do not have a shoot.

What's a real shame is my boat won't be out of storage by that time so if someone needs a guide :) let me know. Otherwise, I could be doing the wading division with my new hawg lite.

Johnny B has another interesting twist to this shoot.

The boat captain drives his/her boat.... and we draw for shooting partners. So Kendall would bring his pontoon boat but end up with one or two wildcard shooters to shoot with him. (that means that some lucky boat captain would get me as their shooter)

A little history on the coveted Brass Carp trophy.

Christine bought it sans wood base at the Kane county flea market. She thought it would make a great "hood ornament" for her boat. The fact that it was less than comfortable to kneel on got it removed.

Then came the 2004 Wonder Lake shoot and the ensuing trash talk got her to put up the CBC (coveted Brass Carp) as the trophy to the Illinois Bowfisher with (and here is where memory gets sketchy) either the biggest or most carp. Somehow I, with the aid of my daughter Katelyn, won the prize.
Dr Rob asked many times when I was going to give everyone a chance to win the CBC. So last year I put it on the line at Clinton lake with the understanding that whoever won the coveted Brass Carp, would put on a fun shoot the following year with the CBC as the prize. I had a blast watching Illinois Bowfishers do what they do best, shoot the breeze, eat, razz each other, shoot fish, eat and razz some more and just plain have a great time.
I hope a bunch of folks come out to try and take the CBC home to grace their home for a year. And I hope the CBC becomesa tradition andan icon of the fun we have as a group.

When you get that brass plaque made for the CBC you might as well go ahead and put my name on it. It will save time and a trip to the engraver when you hand it over to me at the Shelbyville shoot this month.

Do you have an official name for this shoot.
