We have several individuals who have stepped up this past year in order to become primarily responsible for a specific shoot. If there is someone available in the Lake Carlyle area that would like tocome forwardand help put on the Carlyle Lake shoot in May, it would be greatly appreciated. If so please contact Christine or myself. Thanks.

Carlyle is still in the planning stage... but it will be a daytime shoot.

The state shoot in June is a 24 hour shoot, so you can shoot it daytime or night time or both.

Awesome! I look forward to attending several of the downstate shoots. Is the Carlyle shoot in the main lake or the spillway south (Kaskaskia)?

BB;
Still working the details out with the Corp Of Engineers. Seems there has never been a bowfishing tournament on Carlyle and they have lots of questions. Planned is a day shoot. We know that a lot ofsouthernIllinois bowfishers are not set up to shoot fish at night. We are trying to make the tournament available to shooters without tournament ready boats. Carlyle can also get rough andit would be a safer tournament. There is now a season to shoot fish below the spillway and it would be illlegal in May to shoot fish.There will probably be several boats that have lights that will go out after the tournament is over for the night bite. If you are looking to shoot fish at night you may be able to jump aboard with a someone going out a night. Most bowfisher are glad to take a newbie out.This will not be a numbers tournament but rather a "BIG 15".If we can get the Corp of Engineers to handle the fish disposal we may have some prizes for the most fish shot in addition to the 'BIG 15".You don't happen to have a big farm nearby where we can dispose of a couple thousand rough fish do you? A "BIG 15" will give even the begining bowfishera good change to win the tournament against some seaoned veteran.

Welcome to the site.

Who knows what the dates are to legally shoot below the spillway??

Clint;
I can tell you are wanting a day shoot at Sangchris. Club member Jerod P.put on the Poole shoot last year at Clinton after being a club member for only a couple of months. You had a good time there even with theboat troubles you had.A good time can be had at Sangchris. Would you like to step up to the plate and put on a fun shoot/tournament at Sangchris. Not much to it but it does take a little time and some leg work. I will be glad to walk you thru it.

Now what are you going to call your shoot? May the Sangchris Carp-O-Ree, Sangchris Carp Rodeo, Clint's Carp Bonanza, Cental Illinois Carp Round-up?

Pick a date that doesn't conflick with a another tournament
Pick a format...numbers, Big 10,15, 20
Pick you hours to start and finish
Arrange fish disposal
Get with the Sangcris DNR to get a permit
Make up fliers (club can do this for you) and distribute
Pray for nice weather
Arrive early and setup for registration, collect $$ for shoot
Pre-tournament meeting
Tournament
Weigh In (club has scales)
Payout
BBQ, Weinner roast???
Fish Disposal
Send results to DNR
Start planning for next years bigger and better tournament. You will learn alotand the next one will be real easy.
