State Shoot Smack Down..

Alrighty everybody, it's smack talk time again. The state shoot is on Lake Shelbyville next weekend. (June 14-15th)

I might not win many tournaments but I can talk big...

Who's gonna win? Place? Show?

Most carp? Will Snuffy win yet another big fish pot??

The water is up now and it just needs to clear up.I wouldn't be surprised to see some nicegrassies taken again. (I'm following Snuffy's boat)

Any predictions? Bets? :D:D

I'm feeling very confident that Mark and I are gonna place. But we're at least gonna beat you guys.[8D]

Kind of hard to bet against the Indy boys and Slim from not placing. They have a pretty good record. Third place is pretty well up for grabs. Robow has been doing well lately and is a dark horse. The shelbyvilly boys know the lake pretty well and are also a contender. The rest of us just like to support them and have fun.

Last year's top four. The Indy Boyz took first with 275.2 lbs. Snuffy's team took second with 212 lbs. The Shelby Shooters took third with 175.2 lbs. Slim, Bill and Kristina took 4th with 172.9 lbs and the most carp (I think 94 carp). Of course, Snuffy had the big fish.

This will be a first for Steve and I. We're shooting a body of water we've actually been on before. Hmmm.

well it might be a hard time this year. could be anybody for first place with all the rain the lake is now one of the highest I have ever seen. andreal muddy all over the lake.
good thing is grass and timber has alot of water so the fish will be up in there.
if it stays like this with more rain coming might be fishing the corn fields out of a boat.see everyone down there friday or sat.

Well, I've never been to Shelbyville (except for some deer hunting) and this is my first year with a boat so I'm not holdin my breath.

The boat is ready to go. Finally fixed the outboard, got some decent gas, managed to getthe genny running again, added a new troller mount, and will hopefully be adding some side bunks to the trailer this week to help the trailering process take less than 20 mins. :DEven got a spare prop for the troller now. Christine gave me the idea when she broke hers that night after the Bass Pro presentation.

My partner will be a newby who has yet to draw a bow or shoot a fish, so I'm justgoing to enjoy myself with a nice camping weekend away from the house, and hopefully get a few nice action pictures of you real competitors.

I think Mark and Steve have a shot at tearing things up if the new boat is ready and the fish are up.

Alrighty! I got the lights all hung today. I had to make brackets for all 9 of them from scratch, from a 3' length of 3/4" aluminum bar-stock and 2-1" 'L' brackets each. THAT took a ton of time. Each bracket had 5 holes drilled for them with a total of 15 parts each, counting all the washers and everything. But they're done. The lights will all tilt and swivel. I just have to run the wiring for them, the nav. lights and the bilge-pump and I have to make something to mount the bilge because I don't want to screw it to my hull. NOW you guys have something to worry about! I'm not doing all this work to lose. I'm gonna be picky about every fish I shoot and I'm gonna try like hell to keep up with Slim and the Indy Boys to see where you guys find your fish. Yep, me and my little 20-horse Merc are gonna be screamin all over the place right behind you!

IT'S ON LIKE DONKY KONG NOW!!!

(how's that for smack-talk?) hehehe

RE: State Shoot Smack Down..

I just got off the phone with the IL DNR at Lake Shelbyville, they're not expecting any problems with the ramp tomorrow and they said everything is still good to go!

The water is now up 16' foot above normal pool, so on the good side, we'll be able to practically pull the boats up to the registration area. (To run the fish fryer, we can probably just run an extension cord from the gennys on the boat. :) )
