Can I help you cover the wood with the non-skid carp-egg residue finish ??

Sure! I don't have a motor for it yet, but I've got a decent troller and DesPlaines is great for trolling-only. I'll give a holler.

Steve,

What is that small piece of aluminum sticking up in the front of the boat - is that an old seat support?

Catchy name - is Mark's boat going be called Big Woody?

Yes. How'd you guess?

I think that piece is from an old support. It's riveted through the floor, so I don't want to cut the rivets off and have 6 holes to fill. I'm trying to think of a way to integrate it into the new deck. I may just cut it off and grind the edge down dull.

Steve, you should call it the SS Steve Austin. "We can rebuild it. Make it stronger, faster, stinkier..."

Turned out great. Just curious, will a boat that size be capable of sustaining a platform of some sort? Just asking because I'm getting a boat about the same size.

It will Ducsauce. I gonna put a platfornm on it. 16" high. I've seen others like that and the guys say it's alright.

Alright, this is my last entry into this thread. The next pictures you'll see of this boat will be with fish in it!

Here's the start of the support-frames...

Here's the frames all put together to form the platform...

And here's what it looks like on the boat...

After I cut the grass today, I'll finish making the boat see-worthy (it's got a few holes), and then I'm mounting my troller.

FINALLY got my own bowfishing boat!

Hooooo Weeee! I can't wait to ride on your little woody! (That will never get old)

I just got the pic you sent to my phone. I haven't had a phone for a few days. Spilled some nasty stuff on it. Looks real nice! How much do you think the platform weighed? And howhigh is it off the gunnels? What's the bump out in front for? That things pretty enough to bring in the house.

It's about 17" off the gunnels, and the bump-out is for the front navigational light. I think it weighed about 50-pounds. It's plenty strong enough for 2 guys. I stood on it and it didn't even creak. It's 5' wide and 4' deep from the front to the back. It may be pretty now, but that ain't gonna last. I'm not gonna take a barrel the first time I take it out. I'm jusy gonna fill it up!

The most important thing is it's strong, light and it didn't cost me anything but some time. All the wood was scrap left over from jobs I've already been paid on. I'm not gonna put any rails on it yet. I want to see how it goes without, then I'll see if I want them or not.

No, Let me correct you on that one!.....Then most important thing is to be sure you have an outboard that will run BEFORE you decide to let it drift off of the trailer at Clinton Lake.....:D

I'll second that one, at least if you launch on the main lake on a weekend with skiers and 15 mph winds. :eek:I should have listened and gone up to the North Fork. Nothin broke and nobody got hurt. It's all good. Just took a while to troll the kid and dog back to the launch -INTO the wind.

Great work Steve. Looks really nice.
That boat has as come a long way.
It should serve you well.

Does Dina know you're gonna want a bigger woody next year?
