Sorry guys had to do it. Couple of you guys where talkin with me about shootin big buffs so here is a few we got. The spawn is goin ok but we haven't seen the giant 40+ ones. Biggest on the weekend was about 35-40lbs (not pictured). WCL

My buddies shot at night, close to 35lbs.

Nice job! I'm still looking for that buff over 18lbs. I thought I'd get one down at Rend Lake, but I only saw one buff (and I missed it [:@]). It wasn't that big anyhow. ;)

Good fish.
What points do you like for those soft bodied buffs.
I have a lot more pull-offs than I would like, and the point is almost always out the other side.

RE: Big buffs

The only tip I have ever shot is the standard muzzy tips. Never had much problem with them. Iam going to start shooting the 3 blade grapple for tournaments and open water shooting but haven'tused em yet. My buddy holdin the buff in dark has shot the grapple and shot it allday that day and I don't think he lost a fish all day but I don't think I did either except one that was really deep and had bad penetration and another one where I forgot to tighten the tip back down.Shootin buffs though I always aim for the back right behind the head so I'm shootin through meat not belly. What tips are you shooting that you are having problems? Tell me its shure shot cuz that is the norm. WCL

Muzzys and Stingarees....but I usually am wading on the edge of some pretty fast water, and they like to get out into it and pull sideways.
They do pretty well in calm water, unless you hit the belly, like you said.
